
Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons, MD

Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons has 28 years of experience in the medical field. Prior to joining the Platte Valley Clinic, Dr. Fitzsimmons was the physician at The Lander Clinic as part of St. John’s Health in Jackson. Before that he worked in Sublette County for five years working in both Pinedale and Marbleton Clinics and serving as their Medical Director. Previous to that, he spent 12 years in Big Horn County, nine with the South Big Horn County Hospital District and later, three with the North Big Horn Hospital District. He also worked as a private physician in Laramie for six years, four and a half of those in his own private full spectrum family practice, doing hospital work, clinic work, nursing home care as well as a full OB practice. He has been the Medical Director of three nursing homes in Wyoming during all this time.
Before entering the medical field, Dr. Fitzsimmons served with the U.S. Navy as a Missile Fire Controlman, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia as part of the Second Fleet, Atlantic Ocean.
Dr. Fitzsimmons received an associate degree in pre-engineering from Casper College and a B.S. in electrical engineering with a biomechanical option from the University of Wyoming. He earned his MD from Creighton University and performed his residency at the University of North Dakota Family Practice in Minot, ND.
Dr. Fitzsimmons is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine. He also holds current life support certifications for Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Life Support, and Advanced Burn Life Support as well as Neonatal Resuscitation.
In addition, he serves and has served on a variety of medical boards and organizations throughout Wyoming during his career. He is currently the Sublette County Health Officer. He was named Wyoming Health and Women’s Wellness Program Physician of the Year in 2009.
Dr. Fitzsimmons will supervise the medical aspects of the transition of the Platte Valley Clinic to the North Platte Valley Medical Center.
